Awards handed out recently include Consumer’s Digest naming The Prius the best car you can buy, the Academy Awards naming Slumdog Millionaire the best movie you could have seen last year and The Guiness Book of World’s Records naming these the 10 most influential games ever:
1. Super Mario Kart
2. Tetris
3. Grand Theft Auto
4. Super Mario World
5. Zelda Ocarina of Time
6. Halo
7. Resident Evil IV
8. Final Fantasy XII
9. Street Fighter II
10. GoldenEye
This is a ridiculous list.
At the top should be, I think:
1) Super Mario Bros.
2) Ultima
3) Wolfenstein 3D
4) The Legend of Zelda
5) Tetris
6) Alone In the Dark
7) Test Drive Madden Series
9) Street Fighter II
10) Bomberman
11) The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
12) The Romance of the three Kingdoms
I’ve been accused at making contradictory statements in the past about what I hold to be the greatest videogame of all time.
I can rationalize that away by arguing that the problem is the definition of ‘videogame’ isn’t clearly defined.
Despite my use of the terms interchangeably there’s a difference between ‘videogames’ and ‘computer games’.
Therefore, Half-Life can be the greatest computer game of all time, and Yakuza can be the greatest videogame of all time and that’s that.
Here’s my list of favourite computer games:
1) Half-Life
2) Marathon 2
3) Myth
And videogames:
1) Yakuza
But something might change that:

So yeah, pretty much the new Greatest Videogame Ever.
I forgot to mention that when I went to see The Mummy last night, I was the only person in the audience – seriously, I was the only person in there.
It was night, I got my pick of the seats (obviously) and didn’t have to worry abut someone taking my stuff when I went to the washroom.
The reason that was important is – I GOT YAKUZA 2 yesterday at WalMart! The reason I’m mentioning WalMart is because they’re selling the game for $30 CDN, as opposed to the $40 that everyone is trying to get for it. So for that I’ll give them a mention.
Verisign was kind enough to feed us for lunch, the burgers (professionally barbecued) were great, as were the noodle and green salads.
I didn’t get any time with Yakuza last night, hopefully I will sometime over the course of the weekend.
And you think this is going to help you make money???
What you’re doing is making people not want to buy your products. Reminds me of the U.S. automobile industry. Just what makes you think people will be willing to get ripped off long term?
Make quality products up front and the people will come back, ship broken, buggy or poorly designed products, and they won’t be back. Guaranteed.
I’ve never seen this site before, but they posted a link to this video with the following description:
I know I sure was available for the gig. But Mr. Jelinek either decided to hire his voice talent based solely off the criterion that they have the same last name as himself, or he just raided his own living room and got his family to do it.
If you’re my friend and you unwittingly come over to my apartment, I feel sorry for you already.
I try to discover
A little something to make me sweeter
Oh baby refrain from breaking my heart
Im so in love with you
Ill be forever blue
That you give me no reason
Why youre making me work so hard
That you give me no
That you give me no
That you give me no
That you give me no
Soul, I hear you calling
Oh baby please give a little respect to me
And if I should falter
Would you open your arms out to me
We can make love not war
And live at peace in our hearts
Im so in love with you
Ill be forever blue
What religion or reason
Could drive a man to forsake his lover
Dont you tell me no
Dont you tell me no
Dont you tell me no
Dont you tell me no
Soul, I hear you calling
Oh baby please give a little respect to me
Im so in love with you
Ill be forever blue
That you give me no reason
You know youre making me work so hard
That you give me no
That you give me no
That you give me no
That you give me no
Soul, I hear you calling
Oh baby please give a little respect to me
Soul, I hear you calling
Oh baby please give a little respect to me
