So Saturday I felt a little not good, but I still managed to go out with some friends.
That proved to be a mistake.
By Sunday morning I was feeling the oncoming of being a basket case, and by 8:30pm I found myself bidding the Metro Crew adieu, hiking home and getting completely hit by a cold/fever/cough/runny – bleeding nose thing.
So, suffice it to say Monday was a complete write off, except for the purchase of some juices and punches which will hopefully speed up my recovery.
Thanks to Wilson and Kate for the birthday cards they gave me.
I realize now that they got me a 2 year old and a 3 year old birthday card not because it’s just cute (awwww) but also because at my advanced age, the greeting card companies don’t make cards with the number of years we’ve been on the planet. No one would buy it for fear of depressing the recipient.
Well, thanks again to them!

My blog’s new name is ‘Old and Fat’ to properly represent the writer.
He’s old.
And fat.
And loves it!

I saw the two *ungsters today.
The Ems one on the way to work. She seems to be enjoying herself with work and hanging out with recent mothers. The Jimmy James one during the evening (along with Shimonku and cousins K & G at night). We went to a club (Shmoooze) for some reason.
It was seriously the first time I’d been to a club in a long time…now I feel too fat and old to go.
Everyone seems happy.
Except me, work once again was particuarly brutal.
Uh oh, I’d better go to bed soon or else I’ll be a wreck for work tomorrow.

Here’s a particularly horrid version of the Star Trek Theme.
I think I’m going to dedicate my blog to different versions of it. At least 100. Maybe.

Heh, it’s not very good, but here is Abba’s Super Trouper.
I’m not proud of it by any stretch.

This is Abba’s classic SOS once again in Cubase.
This time the instrument is the Vienna Symphonic Orchestra’s Orchestral Strings ‘Strings All’ patch set to the default, 41S Strings Staccato.
This brings up something I’m happy to say. The limitation here isn’t the instrument or me. It’s how much time I have to devote to assigning the correct patch to the proper phrase.
You’ll notice that often the staccato phrasing doesn’t match what Abba original did, and VSO can certainly do it as intended, but I just can’t be bothered to do all that work by hand just for fun.
I’m using the UV22HR mastering plugin, Dynamics (set to ‘Full Dynamics’ again, Studio EQ set to ‘Mixed Choir’ to bring the lows and highs out and RoomWorks SE once more for the reverb, it’s set to ‘Church’).

This is Abba’s classic, Knowing Me, Knowing you done once again in Cubase 4.
The instruments:
1) HalionOne’s snare
2) NI’s Massive ‘Space Flourish’ preset
I’m using the following plugins:
1) Cubase’s built-in Dynamics (set to Full Dynamics)
2) Cubase’s Modulation (set to Symphonic)
You can get Abba MIDI files here: Abba MIDI files
