New Year’s Leave

December 31, 2007 11:58 am

I’m the biggest lamer when it comes to New Year’s. Every year I don’t even try to do anything.

This one will probably be no exception, I’m at work for another couple of hours, and I think I see myself just dragging myself home and going to bed by 10pm.

See you next year! All the best.

New hit from Florida!

December 29, 2007 7:47 am

Looks like I have a new hit from Florida, looks like the Fort Lauderdale area, but the map doesn’t show a whole lot of granularity.

Well, hello there!

‘New’ vs. ‘More’.

7:43 am

I’m pretty bad with language, but something hit me last night.

Sometimes, it’s good to have ‘more’ of something than a ‘new’ something. Even if in the end it means the same thing.

For example, rather than saying, “I have made some new friends!” you might want to say, “I have made more friends lately!” The first sentence can be misinterpreted by people to mean that you’ve replaced old friends with shinier, newer ones who are more fun, which might not be the intended consequence.

If you say ‘more!’ then it indicates you’re getting additional items of an already good thing.

Random People Sighting.

7:40 am

Big (but not too big, just the right size) sister was in town with her family for the last couple of days (leaving today). Went out for dinner with them and my folks (also leaving me home alone today) to Milestone’s at Yorkdale.

The less that’s said about Yorkdale the better. It’s a huge mall, and I almost got lost just looking for the EB where I was trying to find an x-Box compatible mic for my nieces to better enjoy Karaoke Revolution. Didn’t find one, and the helpful guy there told me I’d probably be better off shuffling to a smaller, resale shop to find the thing.

Anyway, the Greg Burns sees you! trend continued. I ran into K.M. and Andrea H. I’m not sure if Ming had seen my eldest niece, and he certainly hasn’t seen the younger one so it was cool.

That’s what I’m reduced to, by the way. Instead of actually planning to see friends instead I run into them in random places.

A Skeletor Christmas.

Okay, a day late, but….enjoy?

What’s that weird elephant-head contraption He-Man has on his head in the last shot?

Just so you know…

A Farewell to Oscar Peterson

7:37 am

Gautam has some nice words to share about the passing of jazz piano legend Oscar Peterson.

I have some Oscar stuff, and I love it. He was a really forceful player.

Sad to see him go, but he’s of course in a better place now.

You can listen to some of Oscar’s stuff here. If that link goes down, hit up http://www.oscarpeterson.com/ and hit ‘audio’.

Christmas, “What???” Moment

7:20 am

Can you believe that I got flyers delivered to my apartment on Christmas Day?

They were boxing day flyers, guess the retailers decided they have to push as hard as they can to suck out the last few $$$ from everyone, but.

Well.

Ewwwww.

Christmas with the Burnses

6:35 am

So,

I hope everyone had a very merry and enjoyable Christmas.

Sunday night I hung with the Metro Crew for their annual Christmas party, song great music (Kate L. on the keys – and I think his name was Al V. on the trombone). Say David and C.V.’s family, and their rapidly growing children. Time flies….

My parents came down to Toronto from Belleville on the 24th and we just hung out, didn’t even watch a movie or anything. I slept on the new pull-out and they were in my room. I didn’t really sleep very well at all. I was the youngest person in the place, since my sister wanted to have a quiet day with her family, so no little monsters were about.

So, Christmas morning my parents got up first, and since I hadn’t slept I went into my room to get some sleep. My mom put the turkey in the oven around 11:30 (in time for our planned dinner time of 4:30pm – it was a small turkey for the three of us) and then went to check it again at 1pm.

It was then she realized that my oven wasn’t working. It had been working a few days/a week before though, I remember having used it for a pizza or something. But yeah, it was dead, no heat at all.

So then we had to go to a backup plan, which was, essentially invite ourselves over to my mom’s very nice friend Molly’s place, where we had dinner with her and two of her friends. Very nice people, so it worked out well.

Mom’n pop are here until the 30th, then they’re back to Bellevegas.

I’m back at work today, tomorrow, the 31st and 1st (what???? Yes).

Today is dual bovine’s annual Christmas shindig.

I’m not going (I’m working) but it’s all good. I’m going to have my own party in here.

Rock on.
