Overcite, Oversite, Oversight. Only one of these is a real word, I’m pretty sure. But I think all should be.

1. Overcite: to refer to something too often. As in, “This is a classic case of overcite, you can only quote Noam Chomsky 8 times per paper in a first-year poly-sci course.”

2. Oversite: to look over a site. “I’m the site supervisor, my job is oversite of the whole entire site.”

3. Oversight: too have your perspective set too far you look over an object. “I was looking for the grocery store, but due to my oversight I ended up in Halifax instead.”

Clever domain names I own.

7:26 pm

1. engrish.ca

2. cerebralproxy.com

3. fizun.com

4. experience.to

5. baghdadlife.com

6. classicshows.tv

7. docs.tv

8. hypetracks.com

I have some more cool ones too. A famous domainer once invited me to a party in Vegas, I’m sure he didn’t know of me personally, but he had some script to look up people who had a lot of domains. Or, he might have wanted to meet the guy who was losing money hand over fist on his portfolio.

Sigh, I have to start building sites.

Nice songs I can think of with the name of a woman in them.

7:14 pm

1. Angie by the Rolling Stones, which is such a beautiful, bittersweet song.

2. Edie by the Cult

It’s late, I’m sure there’s more, but I can’t think of them.

Oh, ‘Oh Sherry’ by Steve Perry

Stand back. I’m on a rant.

7:04 pm

For the last few weeks or so (since I learned I have to curb my spending or get hauled off to jail) I’ve been living much more cheaply than before.

I brown (well, plastic) bag my lunch to work everyday, except Wednesday (it’s Whopper Day at Burger King, y’know) and I don’t eat out during the week.

Well, I ate out today. It wasn’t by design, and I didn’t have company, but I ate out because I was trying to get to the Post Office, was too late and couldn’t get what I needed to get done done. So, I was faced with the prospect of a 20-minute walk home without grub in the belly, or eating out. So I grabbed some curry chicken, mango salad, rice and weird pototo type stuff at the Noodle Restaurant at Yonge and Sheppard. Wasn’t great, but wasn’t terrible either.

I realized that when I eat spices I sweat like anything. My skin – oily as it is normally must have had some sort of reflective sheen that one would more normally associate with a  wet sidewalk. I felt quite gross.

Anyhoo, the upshot being I ate out today, I’m sad about it, but there’s nothing I can do about it now.

Controversy. Drama. Confrontation. Greg’s on the attack and he takes names.

I hope my directness and frankness don’t alarm you. I can come off as pretty abrasive to those who don’t know me, but those who do know me as a no-nonsense get-with-the-program straight shooter who tells it like it is.

I don’t know why I don’t want to do anything when I get home except sit in front of a computer…why do newspaper writers always use the cliché ‘It wasn’t supposed to be this way’, would they have a story otherwise?…I think all politicians are dishonest and just want you to vote for them, really….Nice people make better friends than mean ones….Musical education is really important for children….Why do people worry so much about what other people think of them? The real danger is rap music….The Raptors need to play well as a team in order to win as many games as they did last year, but I think they can do it, but not necessarily….

More insight coming.

EA Buys Bioware

2:35 pm

A bunch of videogame making doctors in Alberta should be happy now, the owners of Bioware have sold off the quality gaming house to Electronic Arts for up to $620 million.

Hope that’s Canadian, y’know, with the exchange and all.

Bioware made Baldur’s Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Knights of the Old Republic and some other good stuff.

1994 LPCI video yearbook!

Here’s a copy of my highschool’s video yearbook from – 1994! It would have been my second to last year…get out the popcorn and enjoy!

Notes from Thanksgiving

October 10, 2007 9:46 am

I went to my parents’ for Thanksgiving this year.

I’m thinking that you know you’re an adult when you start hosting parties like that, when you cook for a whole day and stuff. I’ve never done that really, I’ve had parties with food, but I haven’t prepared a meal. I always go to my parents’ or my sister’s.

I took my nieces a stuffed cat (younger one) and two books for the older one. The older one saw the books and said, “But I don’t like Robert Munsch!” That she knows who Robert Munsch is floors me. I always have this impression of them being kind of sheltered from the world, so knowing that they know authors tells me they’re becoming real people. Weird.

I didn’t spend enough time with my family, I was constantly tired for the whole weekend. I spent a lot of time in bed, and when I got back to Toronto on Monday I couldn’t sleep that whole night.

First Post!

Neil Peart is the second worst rock lyricist

Rush drummer and lyricist list of the worst rock lyricists

First, it’s refreshing to see Neil listed as a second on any list. Second, how in the world do you measure who a bad rock lyricist is? They’ve all had their own low-points, it’s the nature of the beast. Maybe the only consistently great lyricist I’d say is Mick Jagger.

Sonic the Hedgehog is in Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Sonic is in SSB:B, which is okay I guess but since Capcom gave Nintendo a lot more support during last generation, let’s see MegaMan or someone from Resident Evil in there too! Please!

Logic is cheap

Apple has lowered the price of Logic Studio 8 to $499 retail. Once I get a Mac Pro, I’ll for sure pick it up, what I’d like is some good mastering plug-ins, but Logic Studio doesn’t include that. What it has is some great built-in synths and Apple’s entire collection (so far) of instruments and loops for Garage Band. Not a huge plus for me, but that’s a lot of value for the money.
